Eliee Saab FW 2015-2016: An Ode To Luxury And Dreaminess

10 Jul

I always love-LOVE-LOVE-LOVE to watch Eliee Saab’s Haute Couture. I think I love is as much as-if not more-The Victoria Secret’s Fashion Show. Yesterday, or on Wednesday to be exact, Eliee Saab, a Lebanesee designer, presented dresses fit for princesses at his haute couture show in Paris (known as Paris Haute Couture week). A collection of amazing fabrics with sparkling sequins, shimmering beading and full skirts. It said that his designs were inspired by his early work in the 1990s, the designer, who opened his couture atelier in Beirut at the age of 18, opened the show for his autumn-winter 2015/16 collection with gold floaty dresses adorned with embroidery depicting foliage and other motifs.

While gold was the recurrent color, the palette also included shades of pink, blue, and taupe before moving onto darker tones. Saab mixed both high and low necklines among the gowns, which had straps, short or flowing sleeves, empire lines or full skirts. Some were cinched at the waist with slim belts. He used printed silk organza, lace as well as mink detailing. Models wore golden accessories including tiaras, some of them made as laurels, over their loose locks.

The photos above represent most of Saab’s grander gown designs. I know I promised myself to only take and put a few here that are my favourite, but I can’t help myself. All of them are so damn gorgeous. Gold hues were dominant in the evening gown lineup (which, this season, has done-away with less formal cocktail dresses and focused squarely on the grand and grander gowns). Each look is a floral hymn that enhances the female body thanks to alluring necklines, tactile decoration and cinched waists.
